Up the Eiffel Tower

Today we went up the Eiffel Tower! After breakfast we left the house and had a walk as our booking to go up was later in the day. First we went to a well known cafe called Cafe de Flore. I had a hot chocolate and I think it has to be one of the best that I have ever had.

Afterwards we caught the train to the Eiffel Tower which was AMAZING! It was so much bigger than we all expected but so pretty as well. We saw these massive queues and got worried but those were the people who had no tickets and we did. After a really small queue we went up the top. It was incredible to be up so high and there was a part where the floor was glass and it was scary going on it.

After this amazing experience we went for gelato at a little store we found. I had coconut and it was so good! It even had real coconut bits in it!

We went on the bus later to go home after a great day out!

Arriving in Paris

Today we left London to go to Paris. We all woke up before seven so we could catch an early train as we needed to get to the station early. It was sad saying goodbye to the people we were staying with but we were all excited for the next part of our journey.

Once we were on our first train, we only needed to wait half an hour until we arrived at the main station. As we had so much time, we bought some food from a store called Marks & Spencer’s and went for coffee and hot chocolate at another store.

A few hours later we were allowed to board the train. We had booked two sets of seats opposite each other with a table so we could eat our food and also see each other. The train went so fast and it was impossible to take any photos without them being blurred.

When we got to Paris, we went on a short train ride so we could reach the place we were staying in. It was really nice though there were two beds so we had to share. Later we went for a walk but I got a blood nose so we went home.

Meeting with Old Friends

Today we went to see my mums great friends from University! We met at midday in Greenwich Park for a picnic. Everyone bought enough to feed many people so we had some much food! We had bread, cheese, dips, quiche, salads and so many more things. I particularly liked the hummus and avocado, they were very good!

There were many very good climbing trees in the park so I had a wonderful time! The view was also very good so I enjoyed sitting up at the top of them. One of my mum’s friends is a caricaturist so he drew Zac and me, we thought he was very good! Afterwards many of us threw the ball around while the rest sat and talked. When I was hot and tired I sat down and talked to my godfather (Ian) for a little while. He is so funny so I was laughing so much!

We returned to the house we were staying with after many hours of fun at the park and started getting ready for dinner. Ian had booked it and we were all exited to go to the resturant as he said it was really good. I few train journeys later we had arrived and were sitting at a very nice table with an AMAZING view. It was a fish resturant, so I order a fish which had been placed in a creamy sauce. That would have to be one of the best meals I have ever had.

For dessert I ordered fruit, ice cream and meringue. It originally had alcohol in it but the kind chef made it for me with out it so I could have it. When it arrived it was all layered in a cup topped with whipped cream. The ice cream was a mixture of passion fruit, vanilla and lemon which tasted amazing. I think that topped my main!!

The adults then all decided we could order a drink so I had raspberry smash which looked beautiful. When we left it was 10:30pm so we were all tired and when we arrived home, fell asleep in our beds.

A Pleasant Day

Today we decided to go into town to have afternoon tea with on of my mums friends from school. We went into town at about 12:30 after a trip to Waitrose (Coles but 10 times better) and had a nice lunch of salad and bread.

Afterwards we headed into town where we looked in a few shops the went to see my mums friend. Afternoon tea was amazing, I had an amazing mini cake and hot chocolate. My mums friend is an interviewer and she has interviewed Daniel Radcliffe, David Williams and Bill Clinton just to name a few!!

After an amazing afternoon tea we headed back home on the Subway.

Back to London

Today we are heading back to London after an amazing stay in Oxford. We had a lovely breakfast and I had some very tasty pancakes which Zac ended up ordering after I got them.

After breakfast, we caught our first bus ride to the main bus ride. The man bus ride was two hours so we bought some lunch in advance. After the two hours of bus riding, we ended up at a train station where we caught two trains to get back to Greenwich.

Getting back was a relief and we all went to bed early that night!!

The Bodlyeian Library

Do you know the library that Harry Potter is set in? Meet the Bodlyeian Library.

At around mid-day, we went on a tour that would show us around. They told us that back in the day, they used chains to make sure nobody stole the books. Apparently at one stage they were worth their weight in gold! Now, they are cheap, and we get them easily.

Through out the tour, they told us they now get a copy of every book and magazine published in the English language. They built a 250 kilometre shelving place and it’s is already half full! Imagine the amount of books they have!!

Later mum and I went shopping at H&M, paperchase, and many other stores. We managed to get a nice top and shorts for me and also some shorts for mum who forgot to bring many of hers and only has two! After a while we got sore feet from all that walking and decided to go home.

The City of Spires

This morning we left the house at about 8:30 after having grapefruit and toast (separately) so we could walk to the train station. After buying our tickets, we boarded our first train to Oxford. After about 10 minutes we boarded another train, and then afterwards a bus which we spent an hour on.

After getting off, we walked for a while until we reached our English aunts house, who had kindly taken a few days off work to show us around Oxford. It was nice to see her and her son was also there.

After a nice lunch she took us the Westgate (the new shopping complex) where we were able to look around this amazing place. If you go up to the top, there are gardens and it is really amazing to be able to look over Oxford. They call it the city of spires because there are so many (can you guess?), spires!

We came home later to see our air BNB house that we were staying in. We later found out that the owner is an author and we have a book by her! The house was okay but the bed my parents are sleeping in has half sunken in and they left the fridge full of half eaten food (we are not touching it). Otherwise it is nice!

We left the house alter so we could have a barbecue at our aunts house. Their oldest son was cooking it and it was very good.

Seeing our Grandparents

Today we took a boat across to the London eye (we didn’t actually go on it) so we could meet our grandparents for brunch. We all enjoyed it and I even tried dragonfruit lemonade (it was really good)!

Afterwards we walked to the nearby aquarium and we saw lots of colourful fish! My favourite type of fish were the tang fish as they were all brightly coloured. We also saw Dory and anemic. When we we nearing the end, there was an announcement saying: “Mr. Fish please report to the telephone”. We all found it strange but carried on looking around until a fire alarm sounded. We all think that Mr. Fish please report to the telephone is a code. In the end it was a false alarm and we founded out that it had happened four times in the last four to five months. I think they need to get some new alarms!

We later found out that the whole building (the aquarium is only a small part of it)was evacuated and we were having high tea there! We rung up and they said we could still go, so we set off back to the building we had just exited from.

High tea was amazing! We had savoury and sweet scones with things to spread on top, three types of sandwiches, a small quiche each, a bun with a delicious mixture in it, a macaroon, a mini cake with a meringue on top and so many more amazing things. We also all had a pot of tea each and I had cinnamon chai which was AMAZING!

After our stomachs were full we left to catch our boat home, we have had a great day!

A Hot Day

Today we have had a chilled day as we were still getting over jet lag. We stayed at home most of the day as Zac and I only woke up (well, got woken up) as 9:30am!

We had a nice lunch of dips, bread, a salad and cheeses, ham and smoked salmon! We then went out for a walk at their local park and I had a really fun time climbing trees!

When we returned to where we were staying it was 5:30pm though it felt more like 1:00pm!

We has sausages and chicken for dinner with a salad and it was really good!

Away we go to London!

Today we have flown from Orlando to London. It was said to be about eight and a half hours but the flight was delayed so we were two hours late. Zac and I got to go into the cockpit. There were so many buttons and the pilots said that it took them six weeks to understand them all.

When we arrived in a London (two hours late) our taxi driver wasn’t there so we spent another half an hour trying (and failing) to get in contact with him. We then just decided to book a taxi and get them to take us.

Now we are in London and going out to dinner in a few hours. I am really tired and am sure that I will sleep well tonight!
